Orange Gingersnaps

Makes about 3 dozen cookies

Ingredients 

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon 
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 8 Tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar + more for rolling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup dark molasses
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 1Tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice

Directions 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium sized bowl, cream butter and both sugars together with an electric hand mixer.
  • Add egg, molasses, orange zest, extract, and juice and mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
  • Add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Scoop and roll dough into 1 Tbsp size balls.
  • Roll each ball in granulated sugar and place 2” apart on a baking sheet.
  • Bake cookies for 15 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for a few minutes then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

  1. I love to make gingersnaps to add a nice spice to the holiday season but I wanted to try a new recipe and oh boy am I glad I did🤤
