Orange Gingersnaps
Makes about 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 Tbsp ginger
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 8 Tbsp butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar + more for rolling
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1/3 cup dark molasses
- zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 tsp orange extract
- 1Tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium sized bowl, cream butter and both sugars together with an electric hand mixer.
- Add egg, molasses, orange zest, extract, and juice and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
- Add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Scoop and roll dough into 1 Tbsp size balls.
- Roll each ball in granulated sugar and place 2” apart on a baking sheet.
- Bake cookies for 15 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for a few minutes then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
I love to make gingersnaps to add a nice spice to the holiday season but I wanted to try a new recipe and oh boy am I glad I did🤤
